Overview Of Cramp Defense

Cramp Defense is a rather unique supplement. That’s because unlike a lot of other supplements on the market, this one has a single intention. If you find yourself suffering from frequent muscle cramping, Cramp Defense may be able to help you.

It is claimed to treat the root cause of muscle cramping: magnesium deficiency. As such, the formula for Cramp Defense is rather simplistic.

How Does Cramp Defense Work?

The crux of this supplement is the assumption that magnesium deficiency is the cause of muscle cramping. However, the jury is still out on that topic as far as most health professionals are concerned.

There is some evidence that would link magnesium deficiency to muscle cramps, but they have not been substantiated beyond the shadow of a doubt. But as far as Cramp Defense reviews go, more than half of the users of this product have good things to say about it.

What Are The Ingredients In Cramp Defense?

As alluded to in the previous section, there is not a whole lot to the ingredient list of Cramp Defense. In fact, there are only 3 ingredients listed in the formula for Cramp Defense. Here they are:

Magnesium – In the case of Cramp Defense, Magnesium comes in the form of Truemag – a proprietary and supposedly very pure form of the mineral. But in most studies, aside from cramping caused during pregnancy, the efficacy of magnesium[1] to prevent cramping is still in question.
Magnesium Stearate – This is a filler compound used to produce many pills or capsules in the pharmaceutical industry. It is regarded as generally safe[2] by health experts.
Gelatin – Gelatin is often used in the production of pills and capsules[3]. It is unclear whether or not the gelatin in Cramp Defense is sourced from animals, although most gelatin is.

What Does Cramp Defense Do?

Basically, Cramp Defense is supposed to supply the body with magnesium. There is insufficient evidence though, that magnesium deficiency is the direct cause of muscle cramping. Still, the makers of Cramp Defense claim that their product can alleviate you of elbow, leg, knee and lower back cramps.

What Are The Pros & Cons of Cramp Defense?

Pros:

  • The formula is relatively simple
  • The form of magnesium in Cramp Defense may be highly potent
  • Magnesium stearate has been proven to be safe for consumers
  • This product may help with chronic muscle cramping

Cons:

  • There is not enough evidence to link magnesium deficiency to cramping
  • There is gelatin in this formula which would make it unsuitable for vegans
  • Its relatively expensive
  • It only focuses on cramping and no other health aspect

What Are The Benefits Of Cramp Defense?

  • It may help with leg cramping in pregnant women
  • Doesn’t seem to cause side-effects
  • The ingredients are safe
  • May lessen cramping after exercise

Final Words

The best thing that Cramp Defense has going for it is that it has been generally well-received by people who have used it. This is a good sign, especially in light of the fact that there is no conclusive evidence linking magnesium deficiency with muscle cramps. Cramp Defense may be able to help you with mild muscle cramping but you may have to take up to 9 pills a day for it to work as the entire formula consists of only 70mg of magnesium which is just 17% of the daily recommended value. Cramp Defense may be able to help some but for others, 70mg of magnesium may not be enough to help with severe or chronic muscle cramping. Be sure to ask your doctor before taking Cramp Defense.
